One of Sigma Chi's founders, Issac M. Jordon, put together a set of seven
characteristics which is the criteria for membership into Sigma Chi. It is better known as
"The Jordon Standard", and it goes as follows:
The confidence of the founders of Sigma Chi was based upon a belief that the
principals which they professed and the ideals for the fraternity which they sought were but
imperfectly realized in the organizations by which they were surrounded.
The standard with which the fraternity started was declared by Issac M. Jordon
to be that of admitting no man to membership in Sigma Chi who is not believed to be...
- A man of good character,
- A student of fair ability,
- With ambitious purposes,
- A congenial disposition,
- Possessed of good morals,
- Having a high sense of honor and
- A deep sense of personal responsibility

The Sigma Chi Fraternity is a Secret Greek Organization that has practiced the same ritual since 1855. Because the fraternity was
created as a secret organization it's ritual can only be experienced by an initiated member. All members that have gone through the
process are required to take an oath never to reveal the secrets of the process. Because it is secret, this does not mean that there
is hazing or any mistreatment involved. There are plenty of secret organizations that are not Fraternities that also do not haze such
as a lodge, or your church. The Sigma Chi Fraternity has high ideals and hold them, our ideal do not include any kind of hazing whether
it is physical, or emotional. The Sigma Chi Fraternity simply takes young college boys and turns them into men that are prepared for a
successful life in a career by teaching them how to cooperate with others that possess different temperaments, talents, and convictions.
The Fraternity also builds a leader out of a member by giving him the opportunity to take on an office in the fraternity giving him
responsibility.
